2009 ARIZONA SUMMER LEAGUE
100 Player Showcase for Free Agents and Top Collegiate Graduates
June 28 - July 25, 2009

This may be the opportunity of a lifetime as a new professional showcase league is just being launched. 100 players will be selected by the Arizona Summer League to be showcased for a month this season in front of independent minor league teams and major league organization scouts. A minimum of ten (10) players are guaranteed to be signed to Golden Baseball League professional contracts for the duration of the 2009 season, with an option for 2010! And just like the highly acclaimed Arizona Winter League, many more will be signed by other independent leagues, foreign leagues, and even major league organizations. After reading through all of the information below, you may apply for this event by completing the form at the bottom of this page.

As you know, during the 2007 to 2009 Arizona Winter Leagues, over 200 players left with professional contracts - including players signed by the San Francisco Giants, Baltimore Orioles, Kansas City Royals, and Toronto Blue Jays and with many going to the New York State League, the Frontier League, the Golden Baseball League, the Northern League, the American Association, the United League, the South Coast League, the Can-Am League, the Continental League, European Leagues, and the Liga Norte Sonora in Mexico.

Until now, there has been no similar opportunity available in the summer for free agents or aspiring professionals to showcase their ability to fill the many roster spots that open at all levels of professional baseball during the season. The Arizona Summer league is a showcase developmental league that provides this opportunity to players to position them for immediate contracts, in addition the ASL includes the Pro Player Academy that takes players through issues and educates them on minor league contracts, representation, contacts and info for all major league and minor league teams, structure of the independent leagues, playing professionally overseas, and marketing themselves to player personnel directors.
