Daniel Nava Named Golden Baseball League MVP
Chico Outfielder First Rookie to Win Honor

(Dublin, CA. September 13, 2007) The Golden Baseball League (GBL) announced today that Chico Outlaw outfielder Daniel Nava has been named the 2007 Golden Baseball League Spalding Most Valuable Player.

Nava, 24, is a rookie out of Santa Clara University where he led the tough NCAA Division 1 West Coast Conference in hitting in his senior year as he posted a .395 average. The outfielder was a dominant force in the GBL all season as he won the June Player of the Month Award, two Player of the Week Awards, and led all rightfielders in assists with his strong and accurate arm. Offensively he led the GBL in batting average with a .371 mark which is the second highest in the history of the league and included hitting streaks of 13 and 19 games. He also finished in the top five in the league in Home Runs (12), RBIs (59), and Runs Scored (70). He also led the league in on-base percentage at .625, and was second in slugging percentage, extra-base hits, and walks. He was only Chico player to hit over .300 for the season, and led his team in almost every offensive category as the Outlaws claimed the first half title and then defeated the Long Beach Armada three games to one in the 2007 GBL Championship series as Nava hit .308 in the playoffs.

He has already been invited to post-season tryouts with the Toronto Blue Jays, the Philadelphia Phillies, and the San Francisco Giants.
